We welcome your participation in JACKSON INDIE MUSIC WEEK 2023!
Please thoroughly fill out the form below and read the ‘General Information’ that follows carefully.
General Information
Multiple Events
Volunteers must sign up for at least 4 hours during the week to receive an assignment. You may sign up for more than one shift, but please be careful! Although JIMWeek volunteers are “super,” you can only be at one place at a time. Example — If you sign up for 3 events – we are assuming you want to work at all 3 events/shifts. Shifts cannot overlap in date/time.
Age
You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer.
Location
Please note that the events are scheduled at different venues in Jackson – including Fondren, Midtown, Belhaven, & the Downtown area. Be careful in your volunteer choice if this is an important factor in your decision.
Check-In
Check-in with your stage manager / coordinator at the venue you are assigned to at your designated time. Please be punctual. You will receive your JIMWEEK volunteer t-shirt at the volunteer meeting OR upon your arrival at your first assignment.
What to Wear
You are required to wear your volunteer t-shirt for the duration of your assignment each day. Please wear comfortable slacks/jeans, long shorts, or long skirt and comfortable shoes. Be prepared to stand or walk for long periods of time. Valuables should be left at home – spaces are not secure for purses, briefcases, or backpacks.
Online
The JIMWEEK website includes general information that should be reviewed in advance – such as the schedule of events, lineup and more.
From Your Event Coordinator
Some jobs require additional training. The stage manager / coordinator of your assigned event will let you know if there is special training or information you need prior to JIMWEEK. Otherwise, your coordinator will train you when you arrive at assigned venue. All the better reason to arrive a few minutes early for your shift.
General Expectations
Punctuality – Arrive early for your shift to minimize unattended areas and allow volunteers to pass information from shift to shift. The JIMWEEK volunteer t-shirt is required. Enthusiasm and courteous demeanor is a plus. Please be knowledgeable of the specific areas where you will be working. Know your job assignment and shift, and are prepared for the assignment. Know where to park or have other travel arrangements established prior to the JIMWEEK. You volunteer ‘freely’, meaning JIMWEEK does not pay volunteers.
Parking
Street and lot parking is available on-site at most venues. Please make sure to leave any and all valuables at home, not out in the open in your vehicle.
Canceling or Rescheduling
Canceling
If you are unable to report for your assignment, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your shift at jxnindiemusic@gmail.com.
Rescheduling
If you want to change your assigned event, shift time, or day — notify the JIMWEEK staff in advance. Also, please keep in mind that most slots will be filled by that date, so you will need to be flexible about your new job assignment.
